Therefore encourage
one another and build one another up,
just as you are
doing. - I Thessalonians 5:11
Let us now especially remember in prayer our
dearest and suffering Assyrian brothers and sisters in Christ
“How often are you willing to inconvenience
yourself or make a sacrifice for your neighbor, much less lay
down your life for him? You are not
always required to give your life for another, but you must always live for
others.
The true meaning of charity
is more the giving of what you are than of what you
have. Your
neighbor does not require a portion of your money or possessions, but he longs
for a portion of your heart. Love cannot
exist unless it is based upon the gift of self that is self-sacrifice. St
Paul says, “Each
one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver” (II Cor
9:7).
Because the sacrifice of Christ was so pleasing to God, He gladly accepts
any offering or sacrifice on your part that you unite with it.
Place upon the altar at Holy Mass
the pains and sacrifices that human contacts demand of you, and make them an
expiatory offering in union with Christ.
“As Christ loves us,” you should be ready to sacrifice yourself for your
neighbor, be it for the salvation of his soul or for the welfare of his temporal
concern.”

Graciously hear the prayers of Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O
Lord:
that her enemies and
all heresies be brought to nought,
and that she may serve Thee in perfect security and freedom.
Through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
