In the frenzy of Love...

And so we know and rely on the love
God has for us.  God is love. - I John 4:16

Van Gogh - Starry night

"Consider what is most beautiful
and most noble on earth,
what pleases the mind and the other faculties,
and what delights the flesh and the senses.
Consider the world, and the other worlds that shine
in the night - the whole universe.

Well, this, along with all the satisfied follies of the heart,
is worth nothing, is nothing and less than nothing.,
compared with this God of mine! --- of yours!

Infinite treasure, most beautiful pearl;
humbled, become a slave, reduced to the form of a servant
in the stable where He willed to be born,
in Joseph's workshop, in His passion and in His ignominious death;
and in the frenzy of Love ---
the blessed Eucharist.

No intermediate agents...

"For whom is Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament?
For me; because He loves me!" - St. Peter Julian Eymard

"When a friend desires to prove to his friend
that he loves him, he tells him so,
and he presses his hand affectionately.

When Our Lord wants to show His love for us,
He does so in person, discarding the intervention
of any third person, whether angelic or human.

Love suffers no intermediate agents.
He remains in the Holy Eucharist
that He may repeat to us incessantly:
I love you! You must see that I love you!'"

Holding and being held...

"Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life.
Night and day, He is there. If you really want to grow in love,
come back to the Eucharist, come back to that Adoration."
St Teresa of Calcutta

“O Most Holy Trinity, You instituted this Sacrament
in order to obtain the object of Your love, that is,
to attract to Yourself the soul of Your creature,
and detaching it from all earthly things,
to unite it to Yourself, the uncreated God.

In doing this, You make it die to sin
and give it spiritual life, eternal life.
O Blessed Trinity, this Sacrament was instituted
by Your infinite goodness that we might be
united to You and You to us;
that we might receive You into ourselves
and be received by You;
that at the same time we might hold You
within ourselves and be held by You.

Eucharistic drink, refreshment of souls...

As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in Him;
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith ...
abounding in thanksgiving.  - Col 2:6,7

"The world can still set itself right and always will be able to,
because the voice and Blood of Christ
cry out for pity and mercy...
Devotion to the Precious Blood
is the devotion of our time...
It is devotion for all souls, for the whole world."

Pope St John XXIII

The Litany of the Most Precious Blood  pays tribute to the blood our Lord both shed for us in His Passion and offers us through the Eucharist.  This Litany was approved for public use in 1960 by Pope St John XXIII, although devotion to the Precious Blood goes back centuries. Indeed, as Father Faber wrote in 1860 “the lives of the saints are replete with devotion to the precious blood.” The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood.
__________________________
When the Litany of the Most Precious Blood is prayed publicly,
the congregation’s responses to a leader are given in italics below.

Lord, have mercy on us.Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.Christ, graciously hear us.

God, the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.
God, the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us.

Blood of Christ, only-begotten Son
of the Eternal Father,
save us.
(after each line)

Blood of Christ, Incarnate Word of God,
Blood of Christ, of the New and Eternal Testament,
Blood of Christ, falling upon the earth in the Agony,
Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging,
Blood of Christ, flowing forth in the Crowning with Thorns,
Blood of Christ, poured out on the Cross,
Blood of Christ, price of our salvation,
Blood of Christ, without which there is no forgiveness,

Blood of Christ, Eucharistic drink and refreshment of souls,
Blood of Christ, stream of mercy,
Blood of Christ, victor over demons,
Blood of Christ, courage of martyrs,
Blood of Christ, strength of confessors,
Blood of Christ, bringing forth virgins,
Blood of Christ, help of those in peril,
Blood of Christ, relief of the burdened,
Blood of Christ, solace in sorrow,
Blood of Christ, hope of the penitent,
Blood of Christ, consolation of the dying,
Blood of Christ, peace and tenderness of hearts,
Blood of Christ, pledge of Eternal Life,
Blood of Christ, freeing souls from purgatory,
Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor,

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us.

V. Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy Blood.
R. And made us, for our God, a kingdom.

Let us pray: Almighty and eternal God, Thou hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son the Redeemer of the world and willed to be appeased by his blood. Grant, we beg of Thee, that we may worthily adore this price of our salvation and through its power be safeguarded from the evils of the present life so that we may rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
