Pausing to contemplate the SACRED HEART

SOLEMNITY of the Most SACRED HEART of JESUS
His love endures forever! (cf. Ps 136)
"On today's Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus  the Church presents us this mystery for our contemplation:  The mystery of the heart of God who feels compassion and who bestows all of His love upon humanity. ... Together let us pause to contemplate the pierced heart of the Crucified One... The very core of Christianity is expressed in the heart of Jesus ... the Love that saves us and even now makes us live in the eternity of God (John 3:16).  ... God's heart calls to our hearts, inviting us to come out of ourselves, to forsake our human certainties, to trust in Him and by following His example, to make ourselves a gift of unbounded love."  ~ Pope Benedict XVI

"I am linked with Eternal Love through the Blessed Sacrament.  In His temple within me, the Saviour has revealed His goodness and kindness to me.  I have received the inestimable alms of God.  His love urges me...

So, for all mankind, I beg Your Eternal Love.  Let me pour out this Love into the hearts of all.  Let me welcome with compassion the poor, the oppressed, the rejected, those in danger, and lead them to You, the Good Shepherd.  Grant me this grace through the Blessed Sacrament, the source of Your human-divine love.

... Never have I been able to separate the devotion of the Sacred Heart from that of the Blessed Sacrament.  ... When you are appealing to His Divine Heart for a soul, He will never refuse you, although sometimes He demands much prayer, sacrifice and suffering."

Blessed Maria Droste
Good Shepherd Sister

Our Lord made known to Bl Maria that He wanted the entire universe consecrated to His Heart and the she was to request this of the Holy Father.  She carried out this delicate task in June, 1898, and again, on the insistence of our Lord, in January, 1899.  "My mission on earth will be completed as soon as the consecration is accomplished", she said to her confessor.  And so it was.  Shortly before her death (June 8, 1899) Bl Maria received news of the publication of the encyclical ANNUM SACRUM with the decree of consecration of the entire human race to the Sacred Heart (Pope Leo XIII) on June 11, 1899.

Jesus meek and humble of Heart ,
make our hearts like unto Thine!

Our deepest identity...

 Opening Mass (6/10/12) ~ 50th International Eucharistic Congress ~ Dublin , Ireland
June 10 to June 17 ~ Theme: “The Eucharist: Communion With Christ and With One Another.”

...“The Church draws her life from the Eucharist, she receives her own identity from the gift of Christ's own Body. In communion with His Body, the Church becomes what she receives: she becomes one body with Him in the Spirit of the new and eternal covenant. What a great and marvellous mystery! A mystery of love! …

…When we receive Communion, the Spirit of the Lord present in Christ's Body passes into our hearts and into our bodies, making us one new ecclesial body, the mystical body of the Lord. This ecclesial body is our deepest identity.”

 Cardinal Marc Ouellet
Excerpts from Homily, 6/10/12
Eucharistic Congress, Dublin

Cardinal Marc Ouellet, Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops

Satiation for all!

“The Bread of Heaven
satisfies
every taste and hunger.”

 St Anthony of Padua
nee Portugal
Italy ~ 1195-1231
Franciscan Priest, Wonder worker
Patron of the Poor, Patron of Lost articles
DOCTOR of the CHURCH
"Hammer of the Heretics"~ "Ark of the Testament"
FEAST DAY - June 13

"Christians must lean on the Cross of Christ just as travelers lean on a staff when they begin a long journey. They must have the Passion of Christ deeply embedded in their minds and hearts, because only from it can they derive peace, grace, and truth."  ~ St Anthony

St Anthony, ora pro nobis!

Pope Pius XII named St. Anthony a Doctor of the Universal Church, that is, one of the great Christian teachers of all time—and a renowned preacher of God’s word. In fact, Anthony was such a famous preacher that in 1228—at age 33—he was invited to preach before Pope Gregory IX. Afterwards, the pope called Anthony the “Ark of the Testament.” Anthony revealed such a grasp of God’s word that, in the eyes of the pope, he seemed to “contain” within himself the whole of Sacred Scripture.

Have you invited someone to Holy Mass yet this month
- where hunger and thirst is satisfied?
In this month dedicated to the Sacred Heart it is fitting indeed!

Here is my heart...

"Jesus, here is my heart; let it be a little cozy
resting place for yourself.”  ~ St. Faustina

“Jesus, when You come to me in Holy Communion,
You Who together with the Father and the Holy Spirit
have deigned to dwell in the little heaven of my heart,
I try to keep You company throughout the day…. although I am
in the company of other people or with our wards,
my heart is always united to Him.”

Here is Christ!

Supper at Emmaus ~ Carl Heinrich Bloch

"Visitors to the Church say they ‘feel the difference’, though they know nothing about the Eucharist, as they might feel heat and know not the nature of fire.  But to the faithful members of Christ's Mystical Body, here is Christ!

Before His Eucharistic presence, the downcast eyes of sin find wealth of purging tears; here the heart wounded by betraying loves breaks its silence to the invitation of the Living Saviour: ‘Child, give Me thy heart’. Here the knee is humbled in genuflection and the heart exalted in adoration; here priests make their ‘Holy Hour’ in answer to the invitation of their Lord in the Garden. Here is the trysting place of love, for this is the ‘bread which is come down from heaven’ (St John 6:41-42) and will remain with us ‘unto the consummation of the world’ (St Matthew 28:20). Here Emmaus lives again as His disciples recognize Him in the breaking of the bread."

Archbishop Fulton J Sheen
