Third Sunday of ADVENT

The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally known as Gaudete Sunday.
This name derives from the first word of that Sunday’s Introit
in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass:
Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico gaudete.
Rejoice in the Lord always: again I say,

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.  ~ Isaiah 35:10

"Draw near to Christ, present among us
in His Word and in the Eucharist, and...
rejoice
in the knowledge that He remains with us
at every moment of our lives
and throughout history."

Pope Benedict XVI
Dec. 9, 2009, General Audience
